Nabhan Suwanachote, an intern student in our laboratory, presented the following paper at 30th Asia-Pacific Software Engineering Conference (APSEC 2023) on Dec 4th-7th, 2023. Nabhan Suwanachote, Soratouch Pornmaneerattanatri, Yutaro Kashiwa, Kohei Ichikawa, Pattara Leelaprute, Arnon Rungsawang, Bundit Manaskasemsak, Hajimu Iida: “A Pilot Study of Testing Infrastructure as Code for Cloud Systems”, In Proceedings of the 30th Asia-Pacific Software Engineering Conference (APSEC 2023), Dec. 2023. This study examined the repositories using Terratest in order to reveal how developers test infrastructure on cloud systems.

Ms.Kang Xingyuan(Mya), a first-year doctoral student at SDLab presented the following paper at the 2023 Eleventh International Symposium on Computing and Networking(CANDAR) K. Xingyuan, K. Takahashi, C. Nakasan, K. Ichikawa and H. Iida, “Multi-Objective Optimization of Controller Placement in Distributed ONOS Networks,” 2023 Eleventh International Symposium on Computing and Networking (CANDAR), Matsue, Japan, 2023, pp. 76-85, doi: 10.1109/CANDAR60563.2023.00017. This paper focuses on the optimal placement of network controllers in SDN, which enables programmable network operations through software.

Shun Fujita, an internship student in our laboratory, presented his work at the 39th IEEE International Conference on Software Maintenance and Evolution and Reengineering (ICSME 2023). ICSME is considered one of top conferences in the software maintenance research field. Shan Gao, a second-year master’s student in our laboratory, presented his research at IPSJ SIG Internet and Operation Technology (IOT). He introduced his research titled “A node selection algorithm for hybrid peer-to-peer services based on a modified dueling-DQN model”, which evaluated a modified dueling-DQN model for node selection in P2P environments, and received a Student Research Award.

Today, our four lab members, Mr. Ihara, Mr. Murakami, Mr. Kayawari and Mr. Fukumoto, have received their master’s degree in engineering. Congratulations! (Mr. Fukumoto was on a business trip that day.)

Daisuke Fukumoto, an M2 student in our laboratory, presented the following paper at the 30th IEEE International Conference on Software Analysis, Evolution and Reengineering (SANER 2023) on March 21st-24th, 2023. SANER is one of top conferences in the software engineering research field. SANER has been orginizsed by IEEE and had its 30th anniversary this year. Kyoya Murakami, a second-year master’s student in our laboratory, presented his research at IEICE Technical Committee on Internet Architecture (IA). He introduced his research titled “Evaluation of a load balancing method considering inter-site latency”, which evaluated a load balancing method for Kubernetes in edge computing environments, and received a Student Research Award.

Mr. Kosei Horikawa and Ms. Miku Watanabe, students in Nara National College of Technology and our collaborators (Internship students), presented their studies at the SIGSS workshop (non-peer-reviewed), held on March 14-15th, 2023 in Okinawa. Mr. Horikawa presented his paper titled “Toward Investigating the Impact of Refactoring on Test Execution Time”. This study explores the frequency, types of test code refactoring, and its impact on test execution time. Ms. Watanabe presented her paper titled “Toward Investigating the Impact of Adopting Rapid Release on Self-Admitted Technical Debt Introductions”.

Mr. Kundjanasith Thonglek (Tem), a third-year doctoral student at SDLab received IEEE Kansai Section Student Paper Award from IEEE Kansai Section.
